The short version
Both apps run without accounts, without ads, without analytics, and without any third-party code. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing that follows you around. What little leaves your device is anonymous quiz content shared with other players.
What is shared, and with whom
- The shared question bank. Both apps draw questions from — and contribute to — a shared, public question pool (Apple iCloud/CloudKit). What goes up is content only: question text, answer options, whether a question was answered correctly, and problem reports ("flags"). None of it is tied to your name, email, or Apple Account; contributions are keyed by the question itself, not by you.
- Flags carry an anonymous one-way code derived from the app installation and the specific question, so the same install can't flag one question repeatedly. It can't be turned back into anything about you or your device, isn't reused across questions, and is never joined with any personal information.
- Game Center (Triviant only). Online matches and leaderboards use Apple's Game Center. Triviant sees your anonymized Game Center player ID and display name — only to run the match and post scores. Game Center itself is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- Nearby play (Triviant) uses the local network / peer-to-peer radio between devices in the same room. Game data travels device-to-device and is not sent to any server by the app.
On-device intelligence
Question generation and checking run on Apple Intelligence — on your device, or through Apple's Private Cloud Compute, which is designed so that no one (including us) can read your requests. If you configure your own AI provider in Settings, your prompts go to that endpoint with your API key, stored in your device's Keychain and sent nowhere else.
What we never collect
- No accounts, passwords, emails, or contact lists.
- No location, no advertising identifiers, no tracking of any kind.
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs — there is no third-party code at all.
Your learning profile — topics, progress, ratings — lives on your device (and in your personal iCloud backup, under your control).
Deleting your data
Deleting an app deletes its on-device data. Because shared-bank contributions are anonymous, they cannot be traced back to you — or by us to delete selectively; flags and answer counts simply age out as questions are retired. To ask about anything here, email leroy@auston.org.
