Thursday nights are dinner specials, made in house and worth pre-ordering. More about Thursday.

Gone Fishing

The summertime ritual, wake up at dawn, grab some grub, head to the shore, and relax.

Two breakfast sandwiches on the griddle: fried eggs topped with bacon and slices of American cheese melting over them

Grab breakfast

The Get Hooked and a coffee, on the counter by 5:30. Or a Tackle Box if it is going to be a long one.

Looking down into the minnow tank: hundreds of live fathead minnows in clear green water

Grab bait

Fatheads and worms out of the tanks in back, plus whatever tackle you forgot at home. Same trip, same counter.

Cayuga Lake with the sun low on the horizon, a wooded point silhouetted against orange sky and the water flat and still

Hit the lake

Out the door before the sun is properly up, the lake less than 5 minutes down the road. Lines cast, coffee still hot. That is the whole idea.

The Food

Breakfast from half past five, lunch from the griddle, and a rotating bakery case with whatever got baked that morning.

  • The Get Hooked

    $5.00

2 eggs, American cheese, choice of one (bacon, sausage, ham) on a hard roll.

  • Tackle Box

    $7.50

Two eggs cooked your way, choice of one meat, on a bed of home fries.

  • The Hungry Bass

    $8.00

3 eggs, three meats and cheese on a hero. Names itself, really.

  • Reuben

    $8.50

Corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss and Russian on marble rye.

  • Coffee

    $2.00

Flavored, iced or hot, is $4.50 — fifteen flavors, from salted caramel to lavender lemon.

The bakery case stacked with trays of jumbo muffins and cookies, with handwritten signs reading New Pistachio and New Pumpkin Cheesecake
The case, stocked with both savory and sweets!

Bait & Tackle

Live bait, including fathead minnows and worms. Rods, reels, tackle boxes, lures, and the everyday supplies you only remember you needed once you are already out the door.

It is a small shop, so we keep what people around here actually use on Cayuga Lake, and we can usually point you at the rest.

About the Shop

JW Bait & Tackle is a family-run shop on the corner of Cayuga Street and Factory. We sell more than just food or fishing supplies, we care about the community and the people in it.

Come in and order at the counter. Call ahead if you are in a hurry. Ask about our catering!
